  • Responsible for all activities involved in new product development and product improvement to meet market trend and customer’s demand from lab scale to production run, including literature review, raw material evaluation / investigation, benchmark analysis, etc.

Product Development

  • Supervise the setting of specifications for new products, including sources and data for raw materials, manufacturing procedures and finished product testing (standard and performance testing), packaging requirements and Safety & Environment.
  • Assist in sourcing of new or alternative raw materials or alternative suppliers for existing raw materials. Liaise with Purchasing officer in the negotiation of purchase contracts with critical raw material suppliers.
  • Carry out research on new raw material, new technology or process enhancement for quality improvement or value analysis activities
  • Work closely with other internal functions (such as Production, Procurement, Marketing, Sales, etc.) to provide technical expertise and support to achieve business goals
  • Communicate effectively and update regularly to the reporting superiors on project’s progression
  • Ensure all the products are in compliance with company’s quality standard in terms of product stability, product safety, product efficacy, packaging compatibility and regulatory compliance by carrying out various in-house and external tests
  • Establish Product Manufacturing Procedure to ensure production scale-up is ‘right the first-time’ to enable product to be launched on time
  • Ensure that Bills of Material are updated for any change to raw materials or formulations relating to manufactured products.
  • Ensure that Raw Material Specifications (RMS) are prepared for any new raw material, RMS are updated for any approved new source of an existing raw material and that all ARMS are current and any changes or additions are distributed to all concerned parties
  • Assist to train and supervise Lab Technicians / Assistants in sample preparations, analysis and instrument operation

Technical Service and Support

  • Provide supports to sales team for the competitive and comprehensive proposal of construction system products and solutions to customers basing on the understanding of products’ performance, customer’ needs, drawing and specification of the projects as well as the performance of competitors’ products.
  • Support sales to do demonstrations and application guide for products at site to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Solve technical problems after-sales services.
  • Provide technical supports in technical seminars, workshop to introduce and promote products
  • Visit customers to collect and analyze field information of customer expectations/problems on product performance/ technical service needs to verify product design suitability to application.

Lab Management

  • Define standards, demonstration design and guide subordinates to perform laboratory testing to check product quality or test new formulation of product; document testing results by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • Maintain product performance consistent with product specifications.
  • Maintain and calibrate Lab equipment.
  • Prepare product samples as required

Your expertise - Our strength

  • Minimum 3 year experience in resin/PU construction chemicals or related field
  • University diploma/degree preferably in Civil Engineering, Chemistry or a related field
  • Knowledge in construction chemicals related with resin/PU products
  • Hands-on and know-how in application of construction chemicals products such as industrial flooring, grouting & waterproofing systems

In Malaysia, our Industry Division is the clear market leader in the automotive glass replacement sector (AGR) and the “Sikaflex” brand is instantly recognized as a mark for quality, reliability and performance.  In the automotive OEM sector, we are the approved supplier to top German car markets such as Mercedes Benz and BMW.  Meanwhile, Sika leads the field in total bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing and protection solutions for bus, truck and rail vehicle manufacturing, and for the assembly of appliances, industrial equipment and building components.
